How to wash your wig.

One of the most common questions asked is, “How do I clean my wig?” To properly clean your wig you must first determine if your wig is synthetic fiber or human hair. If your wig is made with human hair, you will want to use a salon quality sulfate and paraben free shampoo and conditioner. You should rinse your wig in luke warm water while holding the wig upright with your palm and fingers inside the wig cap, keeping your thumb on the outside or top of wig. This placement of your hand will also hold your part in place. Allow the water to run from root to tips of hair making sure the wig is not touching the bottom of the sink as not to tangle the ends. Apply a small amount of shampoo to the top of the wig and lightly massage through to the tips. Add more shampoo if needed. Rinse and apply conditioner mid shaft down. Please do not apply conditioner to the roots. This will allow the roots to become untied and cause excess shedding. At this point you can let the wig sit for a few minutes for extra conditioning. Rinse and allow to air dry completely. Style as preferred.

To wash a wig that is synthetic, fill a sink with enough cool water to cover your wig completely. Add a capful of wig shampoo to the water and gently swish your wig back and forth. Please take care not to rub wig or agitate fiber. Rinse with cool water and repeat with wig conditioner in a sink full of water. Please make sure that the products that you use to care for your synthetic wigs are designed specifically for synthetic wigs. This will prevent damage to the synthetic fiber.
